Privacy and child safety
Learning Trail is being built as a parent-controlled learning tool for ages 3–6. This page describes the pilot’s technical boundaries; it is not a substitute for a final legal privacy policy.
What the pilot stores
A Learning Trail parent account with a securely hashed password, parent email, a child nickname, birth month, selected interests, activity answers, response times, hint use, lesson events, and calculated instructional progress.
What it does not collect
No full birth date, home address, school, advertising identifier, camera recording, microphone recording, precise location, social feed, or child-to-AI chat.
How lesson AI is limited
Families do not sign in to ChatGPT. If enabled, the server-side lesson service receives only constrained teaching parameters such as a target skill, an instructional estimate, and a generic theme. It does not receive the child’s name, account ID, birth date, location, school, or raw learning history. Generated plans must match a fixed structure and have a curated fallback. AI lesson generation remains disabled until the API project has the required protections for children under 13; curated adaptive lessons work without it.
Parent control
A parent or guardian must sign in and consent before a profile is stored. During the pilot, parents can request access, correction, export, or deletion of their child’s data by contacting the site owner. Self-service deletion will be added before a broad public launch.
Important limits
Learning Trail provides instructional guidance. It does not diagnose attention, learning differences, disability, giftedness, or school readiness, and it does not replace a teacher, pediatrician, or qualified specialist.
